BRICK NY "Landmark Tee" (Concept)
I was asked by BRICK New York to create a new line of apparel for their New York Locations. They wanted designs that strongly represented New York yet didn't have an overused or "touristy" feel to them; i.e.: no Statues of Liberty, no more Brooklyn Bridges, no more Empire States.
I thought that arguably one of the most essential and under-appreciated icons of New York has to be the Subway. Used by tens of thousands of New Yorkers daily, what better image to present a New York vibe than the Subway? New York is also a mecca for streetwear. For this design I wanted to play into that mindset as well. I wanted to create a design that wasn't your typical gym shirt, and that members could wear out on the street like just another streetwear/lifestyle brand.
To create this graphic, I used a photo (taken by Andre Benz) of the 3 train, separated the colors until i was left with just the highlights, then replaced the "3" indicator on the front with BRICK's classic kettlebell logo. To add a bit more color and to further play into the streetwear aesthetic, I included some minimal text below the image.
